My Backyard Garden is captivating, insightful and well written. The author, Debra Hester, does an amazing job of relating her own experience with loss and grief and how her faith played a big part in how she dealt with it. It must have taken tremendous courage for her to share this journey with such intimate detail. Her style of writing made me feel as though I was right there with her; I could visualize what she was seeing and hearing in the hospital. She was able to describe the dynamics and love within her family and how they helped each other through this loss; and she did it without being overly sappy. This is a must read for any one who has experienced loss, and you don’t have to be religious to appreciate this book. It is an excellent book, a gripping read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I highly recommend this book; it is inspiring and hopeful.
